About Baller Sports Club |
Baller Sports Basketball
Baller Sports Basketball was established in September 2005, as a non-profit organization, to promote the development of amateur basketball in the city of Mississauga and the surrounding areas.
Baller Sports REP Program
Our REP Program was created as an outlet for amateur athletes to develop their skills in the game of basketball through development camps, training, practices, and games. We also stress, to our athletes and parents, the importance of education. We work with our parents, teachers, and school coaches to assist the academic progress of our players and to assure that University and College requirements are being met.
OBA and AAU Members - What is the OBA and AAU?
The Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) is the sport governing body for basketball in the Province of Ontario. REP basketball clubs and teams participate in OBA sanctioned exhibition games and tournaments through Ontario and then participate in a Provincial Championship to determined division champions.
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. Our REP program also participates in the AAU Boys Basketball program. Our teams participate in AAU and NCAA sanction exhibition games and tournaments across the USA beginning in March of each year and ending in July.
Player Development
At Baller Sports we believe that true athletes are not only found but they also must work hard to develop their skills. As a member of the OBA we will work on implementing the Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) and to assist our student athletes in preparation for international competition.
All of our players are given an on-line player profiles. A player profile is an ongoing 4-6 year record of stats and the player’s history of high school, OBA, and AAU sanctioned games. Our Juvenile and Jr. player’s receive a written profile that includes a player review, photo, and game stats. This information is provided to all our players with the ability to play University or College basketball and who meet the CIS and NCAA academic requirements.
Our on-line player profiles are available as a recuitment tool for University and College coaches. This tool can be used to review a players academic history, game stats, and recuitment status. It is our goal that with continuing player development, along with educational guidelines and support, and a record of the players history we are able to assist our players in achieving a post secondary education.
